The Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations at Xiamen University (XMU) signed a memorandum of understanding with Malaysia's INTI International University & Colleges on Jan 28, formalizing a broad commitment to joint academic research and cross-cultural humanitarian exchange and moving beyond traditional faculty cooperation to foster deeper institutional ties.
Under the terms of the memorandum, the universities will prioritize personnel exchange programs, short-term student cultural visits, and joint research initiatives. The collaboration specifically targets key areas, including relations between China and Southeast Asia, the Maritime Silk Road, and studies involving the overseas Chinese diaspora.
Both sides also plan to facilitate the international publication of academic findings and host joint seminars and cultural exhibitions to promote multilingual dissemination of their research.
Established in 2023, the center specializes in Maritime Silk Road civilizations and the international influence of Chinese culture. INTI International University & Colleges is a prominent Malaysian institution recognized for its programs in business management, design, and computer science. By pooling resources and utilizing complementary expertise, the partnership seeks to provide intellectual support for global cultural integration and to deepen educational ties between China and Malaysia.
