A Xiamen University (XMU) delegation led by Hu Wenping, president of Xiamen University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, traveled to Malaysia from Jan 13 to 16 to review the university's overseas operations and advance construction of the China-Malaysia International Institute for Advanced Studies.
At XMU's Malaysia Campus, Hu met with Hu Ruifang, the campus president, for a briefing on the campus's development, achievements, and challenges. He held discussions with staff in charge of admissions, academic affairs, and graduate education to coordinate development efforts.
At the University of Malaya (UM), Hu met with Noor Azuan Abu Osman, UM's president, and other senior administrators. The two sides reached a consensus on faculty participation, the scale of doctoral and postdoctoral programs, seed funding arrangements, and preparations for the second academic forum of the joint institute.
The delegation also visited CGN's Edra Power Holdings and the Malaysia-China Business Council to discuss industry-education collaboration and business environment initiatives, and met with executives, including Dato' Lee Yeow Seng, executive director of IOI Properties, to express their appreciation for their long-standing support and attention to XMU.
