Associate Professor Li Zhi from the School of Economics at Xiamen University (XMU) recently attended the 19th Environment for Development annual conference in Tanzania. His visit also marked the first stop of XMU's international recruitment tour for the 2026 master's and doctoral programs.

During the conference, Li engaged in discussions with global scholars on green economy and sustainable development.

Following the conference, he visited the School of Economics at the University of Dar es Salaam, where he met with Dean Beatrice Kalinda Mkenda and Professor Martin J. Chegere, director of the Department of Applied Economics.

The meeting offered a comprehensive introduction to the academic strengths and distinctive features of the School of Economics at XMU, as well as its international master's and doctoral programs.

He presented XMU's overall academic strengths, the rankings of the School of Economics, and key aspects of its international master's and doctoral programs, including courses taught entirely in English, curriculum design, scholarship opportunities, and application procedures. Many students expressed strong interest in applying after the session.

Li also promoted the programs to scholars from the University of Cape Town and Addis Ababa University.

To date, the School of Economics at XMU has successfully educated over 270 international graduate students from more than 70 countries.

The school will continue to promote its programs in Malaysia, Indonesia and other countries by combining live streaming and program briefing sessions.

Focusing on the Economics of Globalization and Chinese Economy, these programs aim to build a global recruitment network and attract top talent to XMU.
