The new students this year include 5413 undergraduates and 7583 graduates. To help them better settle in, XMU has launched a series of activities to provide support, for example setting guiding sites at airports and railway stations, and consulting points in campuses. The university management team also went around between these sites to make sure the welcoming activities are conducted properly and talked with the freshmen.

Schools also prepared their own activities to show their welcome to the newcomers, such as signature walls, customized presents, and games.

On September 13, XMU held the 2022 Opening Ceremony. President Zhang Zongyi addressed the attendees, giving a warm welcome to the freshmen on behalf of the university and expecting them to adapt well to the new life and study hard to embrace the world.
