On March 25, the State Key Laboratory of Cellular Stress Biology, Prof. Mo Wei's research team from the XMU School of Life Sciences and CAS Academician Han Jiahuai's team co-published in the top-tier journal Nature a research paper entitled Gut Stem Cell Necroptosis by Genome Instability Triggers Bowel Inflammation. The research shows that genomic instability in intestinal stem cells triggers the activation of ZBP1-RIP3-MLKL, which induces stem cell necroptosis and bowel inflammation.
The co-first authors are three Ph.D students from Prof. Mo Wei's team, namely Wang Ruicong, Li Hongda, Cai Zhiyu as well as Wu Jianfeng, an assistant professor with Dr. Han Jiahuai's team. Prof. Mo Wei and Academician Han Jiahuai are co-corresponding authors of the paper. This research, funded by President Fund of Xiamen University and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, has been brought to fruition in Xiamen University.
