On November 30, 2019, the 2019 FLTRP Cup National French Speaking Contest, hosted by China French Language Teaching and Research Association, sponsored by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP), was held in Anqing Normal University. Zhang Ziyi, an undergraduate student in the class of 2020 from the Department of French Language and Culture, College of Foreign Languages and Cultures (CFLC), Xiamen University won the first prize for her outstanding performance.

In the preliminary stage of the contest, 12 outstanding contestants from different colleges and universities were selected from more than 100 contestants from 96 colleges and universities nationwide to enter the finals. The finals was divided into two parts, prepared speech and impromptu speech. This competition aims to examine contestants' French language skill, public speaking ability and their knowledge of the culture, history and current affairs of China and France, and the competition is the highest level for college students majoring in French. It is reported that it is the first time an XMU student won the highest award.
