From August 29 to 31, 2019, the 2019 China Robot Competition was held in Qingdao. Two teams from School of Aerospace Engineering (SAE), Xiamen University participated in the competition, winning the championship and the third prize.

China Robot Competition is one of the most influential and authoritative robotic competitions in China, and is also the perfect platform for academic exchange. Started in 1999, this year marks the 20th anniversary of this competition. This year, the competition had 17 major projects with 46 subprojects, and attracted more than 3,800 participants from 1,109 teams representing 207 colleges and universities from all over the country.
Students from Xiamen University (XMU) participated in two groups of the basketball robots project, namely physical group and simulation group. The physical group requires students to design a robot to independently complete different missions such as recognizing the ball, passing, shooting, and tackling. As for the simulation group, the participating teams are required to, on the simulation platform, perform motion control and sensor signal analysis on the simulated physical vehicles. The content of this project covers many fields such as structural design, motion control and navigation. Participants Yang Zhenhai, Li Haonan, Wang Yi, Wang Ningning, Zhang Jingyu all come from SAE, but with different majors. Teacher Lin Chun from SAE is their instructor. LabVIEW Innovation Club from SAE carried out the organization of XMU teams.
