On September 20, the 2019 China Physical Science (CPS) Fall Meeting was held at Zhengzhou. The CPS Fall Meeting is an important annual academic conference in the area of physics. At the opening ceremony, Prof. Chen Lixiang from the College of Physical Science and Technology, Xiamen University was honored with the "Pen-Tung Sah Applied Physics' Award". Prof. Chen is a Professor of Optics in the Department of Physics and he founded the Quantum Optics Lab at XMU. His research interest ranges from nonlinear optics, quantum optics to quantum information, in particular, spin and orbital angular momentum (OAM) of photons and their quantum aspects. In 2010 he won the second class "Raoyu Tai" award for fundamental optics which was awarded by the Fundamental Optics Division of Chinese Optical Society for his work on photon angular momentum and its applications in quantum information. His work was once selected as the Important Achievement of 2014 China Optics.
