On October 15, Wim DE Villiers, President of Stellenbosch University (SU) and Hester Klopper, vice President of SU visited Xiamen University (XMU) and were received by Chairman of University Council Zhang Yan and President Zhang Rong. Both sides exchanged opinions on how to strengthen international education and further promote the exchange and cooperation between the two universities.
Zhang Yan welcomed the delegation of Wim de Villiers and introduced XMU from the aspects of university history, discipline construction, personnel training, international exchange and social services. He pointed out that the Confucius Institute served as a solid foundation in maintaining close cooperation of the two universities, such as organising academic conferences and mutual educational visits. Both sides should strive to find breakthroughs in talent exchange and scientific research cooperation in the future, further expand the cooperation areas between the two universities and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

Zhang Rong expressed gratitude to Wim DE Villiers for his strong support for the cooperation between the two universities. He hoped that SUN and XMU could strengthen exchanges between students, teachers and researchers and promote the joint development of the two universities. Both sides also conducted in-depth transactions on other topics such as university development and internationalisation construction.
