On March 22, Dr. Danielle Laberge, the Vice President of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), led a delegation to visit XMU. Vice-President Yang Bin extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the history, current situation and comprehensive strength of XMU. Yang said XMU has been promoting the "Double First-Class" Construction and the cooperation with foreign universities and colleges. Additionally, he added that XMU encourages the use of excellent teaching resources and the improvement of the international school-running level. He also hoped that XMU will deepen the cooperation with UQAM, realizing advantage complementation and mutual development.

Both sides reached a preliminary agreement on a student exchange program, a collaborative education program and mutual academic visits.
