On April 8, the delegation from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Republic of the Philippines, led by Mr. Generoso Calonge paid a visit to XMU. 

Calonge is the Assistant Secretary and Director of the Maritime and Ocean Affairs Office, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Republic of the Philippines. Vice-President Yang Bin welcomed the delegation and hosted a meeting. Yang introduced the current situation, history and dominant disciplines of XMU. 

Calonge pointed out that the establishment of Xiamen University Malaysia has benefited Southeast Asian people and considered XMU a forward-looking university. He also said that he would like to see more academic cooperation and communication on marine affairs with XMU in the future.

During the visit, both sides exchanged views on the cooperation in research vessel, China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences and Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia.
