From September 21st to 27th, underling the support of the Confucius Institute Headquarters and Hanban, the Southern Base of Confucius Institute Headquarters received principals of the Confucius institute from Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
On September 22nd, Mao Tongwen, dean of the Southern Base of Confucius Institute Headquarters, warmly welcomed the delegation of principals and led them to a tour in the campus as well as the Southern Base. Mao introduced the basic conditions of the Southern Base and programs like New Sinology plan, Principal Workshop, training class for dean of Confucius institutes, training project for Confucius institute teachers and the edition of textbooks, as well as summer and winter camps, etc. Mao also showed the rosy prospect of the Southern Base and answered all sorts of questions raised by members of delegations. The delegation highly praised the development of the Southern Base. The two sides discussed the teaching and managing methods of the Cape school district and hoped to develop deeper and more extensive cooperation in the future.
On September 23rd, the delegation visited the Confucius Institute Headquarters. Leaders of the headquarters received principals with hearty welcome.
On the morning of September 25th, stuff members from the Southern Base led the delegation to visit Xiamen First Middle School. Ou Xiaoling, the vice president of the school, and Yu Xiantong, director of the International office of XMU, met the delegation. They toured the honor wall, library, swimming pool, and classroom. The school received high remarks from the delegation and the two sides held welcome forum later on.
On the afternoon of September 25th, the delegation visited Haicang campus of Xiamen foreign Language School as well as its affiliated school. Ye Huican, the vice president, and teacher Sun Qiaoping, received the delegation. The two sides sent gifts to each other and took photos as memento. Members of the delegation listened patiently about the construction situation of the school and viewed the class. After that, the two sides exchanged their views about this visitation amid a friendly atmosphere.
Confucius Institute of Stellenbosch University in Southern Africa is the sixth oversea Confucius Institute that established by the Southern Base of the International Promotion Center of XMU. Since 2006, the Chinese teaching of Stellenbosch University continues to prosper. Many delegations of principals have visited China and students have also been organized to participate in the summer/ winter camps.
Since 2006, the Southern Base of the International Promotion Center of XMU has set up 15 oversea Confucius Institutes. The Southern Base has maintained close cooperation and relation with the 15 oversea Confucius Institutes. Training and exchanging programs like visiting delegations and summer/winter camps have been organized constantly. The achievement of the mandarin Chinese promotion is very encouraging. As always, the Southern Base of the International Promotion Center will spare no effort in promoting the foreign cooperation and developing the Base to reach a new high.
