To further strengthen the cooperation and substantive conversations between Chinese and South Korean universities, Mr. Li Jianfa-XMU Vice-President and deputy party secretary attended the Fifth China-South Korea University Presidents Forum upon invitation.
This year´s forum, with the theme "To Usher in a New Era for China-South Korea Cooperation in Higher Education", was held in Hankuk University of Foreign Studies from Aug 30 to Aug 31. Mr. Xu Nanzhu, South Korean Minister of Education, and Mr. Zhang Xinsen, Chinese ambassador to South Korea, delivered addresses on the opening ceremony. Those present include 150 university presidents and representatives of relevant parties from both sides. 25 Chinese and 32 South Korean universities were among the invited, including Xiamen University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Jilin University from China, and Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, Ewha Womans University and Hanyang University from South Korea. Jointly promoted by Chinese and South Korean Ministry of Education, the China-South Korea University Presidents Forum aims to deepen cooperation and exchanges and open channels for institutionalized dialogues between universities on both sides.
During his trip, Mr. Li Jianfa also had informal discussions with some South Korean counterparts. Moreover, on the eve of this forum, he visited Korea University and signed agreements on academic and students exchanges with President Huang Shanhui of Sookmyung Women´s University.
This visit made by Mr. Li Jianfa marks a full success as it strengthens mutual understanding and mutual trust between Xiamen University and our partner schools in South Korea, expands the size and scope of student exchanges, and paves the way for future multi-channel cooperation and communication.
