Teachers and Students from XMU Art College Presents a Special Concert at the 12th Congress of the Cimbalom World Association
After attending the 10th Congress of the Cimbalom World Association held in Budapest in 2011, led by Prof. Zhao Yanfang, teachers and students major in Yangqin attended the 12th Congress of the Cimbalom World Association in Taiwan on October 2013. They presented a special concert there, which won great reputations and praises from all attendees.
Cimbalom World Association (CWA) has 32 member countries and thousands of representative members. At the aim of supporting and promoting cimbalom music in the world as well as developing and increasing the popularity of this whole family of instruments, the CWA hosts regular shows and exchange activities biennially. At this year´s congress, Chinese delegation, made up of students and teachers from the Cross-straight Yangqin Research Asscociation of XMU Art College and Chinese Conservatory presented an excellent performance and participated in the concert for opening ceremony, demonstrating the outstanding achievements made by the Music Department in the field of Yangqin. By the opportunity, students exchanged their views with performers all over the world, enhanced their knowledge of music in various culture, broadened their horizon; meanwhile, increased their confidence and enthusiasm of national music.
The XMU Art College Cross-straight Yangqin Research Asscociation was found in 2012, aiming to promote the development of Yangqin, deepen the recognition of mutual traditional culture of both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and jointly face further development of global music.
