College of Art Achieves Great Success in the International Students Design Competition
The XMU College of Art has achieved its greatest success in the International design competition ever for having 9 finalists in the just releasing 2013 Taiwan International Student Design Competition.
The competition, as the most influential design competition in Taiwan, has received nearly 3800 pieces of work from 575 colleges over 37 countries and regions. The preliminary selection was made by some senior professors and designers from Taiwan. 90 pieces of work have been selected into the "Visual Design Category", among which 8 pieces are from Xiamen University. In terms of the number of entries, XMU is at the top of the list.
The Taiwan International Students Design Competition is one of the most influential design competitions for students in the world, aiming at encouraging the communication about creative design between students and finding new creative design talents. The competition has been divided into "Visual Design Category", "Product Design Category", "Digital Animation Design Category" and "Brand Specialized Category". Lin Guohong, a graduate student of 2008 design major in XMU has participated in the Poster Design themed on "recovery".
Since being confirmed as the first-class discipline, the College of Art has received considerable attentions form both school leaders and college leaders. Its teaching and researching team cultivates the teacher troop actively, expands the cooperation and communication with top colleges at home and abroad and encourages students to take part in international design competitions. Eentry works in the competition are students´ coursework and this is a new teaching attempt by the teaching and researching team of the visual design major. For years, students from visual design major have been selected into or awarded in many important design competitions like "Platinum Originality National University Students Graphic Design Competition" etc.
