XMU Overseas Volunteer Chinese Teacher Programme 2014 Started

On October 25th, information session of the XMU overseas volunteer Chinese teacher programme 2014 was held in classroom 101, 2nd Jimei Building. Mao Tongwen, dean of the XMU Confucius Institute, along with more than 100 students attended this session. This is the first time that XMU hold information session for oversea volunteer Chinese teacher programme. 

On the session, Mao introduced histories and developments of the 15 Confucius Institutes that established by XMU. Mao also explained volunteer allowances and supportive policies to students. Students were encouraged to seize this opportunity to spread Chinese culture and gain more insight to foreign cultures. The 15 Confucius Institutes established by XMU are separately located in key universities in Asia, Africa, Europe and Oceania. Confucius Institutes win supports from foreign partner universities and become channels of communication.

Qiying, a full-time teacher from the office of Confucius Institute of XMU and Tandan, a returned volunteer student, shared their experiences. At the end of the session, officers in charge of the Programme explained the application policies and answered questions form students. 

The demand for overseas volunteer Chinese teachers continually increases, and so do the requirements. According to the needs of global Confucius Institutes, 5000 volunteer Chinese teachers will be recruited to serve at more than 400 Confucius Institutes located at 104 countries.
