XMU Undergraduates Win a Silver Award in the International Bio-molecular Design Competition
From November 2nd to 3rd, Professor Fang Boshan and Assistant Professor Wang Shizhen led XMU´s Nanobiocat team and won a silver award in the International Bio-molecular Design Competition (BIOMOD). This is the first time that XMU participated in the BIOMOD. Undergraduates major in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, and Chemicobiology made joint efforts in the past half year and completed a project: Assembly of multi-enzyme biomolecular machines for bio-tattoo.
BIOMOD, initiated by the Harvard University, is an international academic competition for undergraduates all over the world. Focus areas may include-but are not limited to-biomolecular robotics, biomolecular logic and computing, and structural bionanotechnology. This competition is aimed at encouraging undergraduate teams to master control of biomolecules on the nanometer scale, and grasp advanced technology.
This time, BIOMOD has totally attracted 26 teams from Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia University, University of Tokyo, Technical University Munich and many other world class universities. In this competition, each team should complete a project independently and display their achievements through websites, speeches and videos.
