XMU Arts Troupe Participated in the 13th ASEAN and 3rd ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum
Upon the invitation of ASEAN University Network Secretariat, XMU Arts Troupe participated in the 13th ASEAN and 3rd ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum from 6 - 11 September 2015. This forum was hosted by De La Salle University, Philippines under the theme “---ONE ASIA: Framing the Face of ASEAN+3 to our Youth through Culture and the Arts”. Dozens of university students and teachers from 9 countries such as China, Japan, Republic of Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam took part in this forum.
In forms of cultural performance, roundtable meeting, consolidating workshop etc, this forum is held to encourage the participants to gain a better understanding of the diversity and similarity of Asia cultures, thus promoting cultural exchange and cooperation. On a six-day visit, XMU Arts Troupe students mingled with other ASEAN students and they learned from one another the traditional culture of each country. To enrich the program, famous artists from the Philippines were also invited by the De La Salle University to teach the students dance, music instruments, and performance.
In the closing ceremony, XMU Arts Troupe had put up performance to the music”Let’s dance”, in which the soothing rhythm and vibrant moves brought the performance to its climax. This performance not only demonstrated the vitality of Chinese youth, but also displayed the charm of Chinese culture. More important is that XMU students together with the ASEAN students succeeded in the playing of traditional music instruments and situation drama. XMU students also filmed the promotional video “One Asia” to represent the Chinese youth.
During the forum, Ms. Sun Jia, delegation head, introduced the development of campus culture and its organizations of Xiamen University to the ASEAN countries.
