United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia pays a visit to Xiamen University

On April 25, Zhan Xinli, Vice President of Xiamen University, met with Temenggung Dato Liu Limin and his party from the United Chinese School Committees´ Association of Malaysia (UCSCAM). Also present at the reception were the personnel from the XMU Admissions Office, Student Affairs Office, Overseas Education Institute and XMU Malaysian Campus, as well as representatives of Malaysian students studying at XMU.
Vice President Zhan extended a warm welcome to the delegation. She pointed out that Xiamen University has profound historical and cultural linkages with Malaysia, where Mr. Tan Kah Kee embarked on an ambitious and arduous journey to establish Xiamen University back at his hometown in 1921. More than 90 years later, Xiamen University made its way back to Malaysia to set up a campus there, which could be interpreted as an act of kindness returned and a token of deepening friendship.
At the symposium, both sides had in-depth discussions on such issues as how to carry out the ad hoc joint teacher training programs for Malaysian Independent Chinese Secondary Schools. After that, the Admissions Office and the Malaysia Campus respectively introduced the enrollment of international students at XMU and Malaysia Campus. The Malaysian student representatives present also shared their learning and living experiences at Xiamen University.
The United Chinese School Committees´ Association of Malaysia was established in 1954 and has been the leading organization for the maintenance and development of Chinese language and culture education in Malaysia. UCSCAM has committed itself to promoting Chinese education, and now it has more than 1,200 Chinese primary schools and 60 Independent Chinese high schools.
