The 3rd George Bush Sino-US Relations Seminar

The 3rd George Bush Sino-US Relations Seminar,on the theme of "Development,Energy, and National Security",was held in Washington DC from October 22nd to the 25th. It included forums on: Sino-U.S Higher Education; Sustainable Development of Agriculture; Energy; Health; Military Affairs; and Sino-U.S Trade and Investment. The Seminar was attended by senior government officials, experts and scholars from both China and the United States working in fields such as foreign relations, education, energy, and national security. They gave papers on key issues in the development of both countries, and led practical discussions. The Seminar is held every two years, alternately in Beijing and Washington DC.

Delegates from nine first-class Chinese universities and from 10 similarly renowned institutions in the US took part in the Sino-U.S Higher Education Forum, exchanging views on higher education and producing inspirational ideas.

President Zhu Chongshi of XMU participated in the Seminar,and shared some sympathetically-received experiences and conclusions on issues such as the co-operative model and a model for technology transfer between various levels of government.

20 outstanding university students, believed to be the future force to promote dialogue between U.S. and China, injected more glamour and vitality to the Seminar. They included Wen Tusi and Chen Xingxing from XMU.
